For many of our members January 2001 was a wake-up call. Call to do something different and to take action to make the difference. Taking forward our motto - at CARE we are a TEAM and together, everyone achieves More!
The earthquake in Bhuj, India (state of Gujarat) of 2001 left 20,000 dead and over 130,000 injured. Many of the injured were children who were permanently disabled. Care helped to build a school and disability centre in Bhuj at a cost of nearly £500,000. Soon after, the then president of India awarded a State Award for this Viklang Vidhya Vihar Disability Project.
With all our goodwill, wealth and medical technology available in UK we still do not manage to efficiently look after our disabled children. If that is the condition in UK think about a remote corner in India or Africa. What chance do these disabled children have?
CAREgolf began with a few golfers who decided to take action and do something about it, and as they say the rest is history. Today we have
over 60 members who are committed to the cause and dedicated to playing golf, thus raising valuable funds for the disabled.
Careducation Trust has since helped in building over 10 schools and disability centres in India and Africa. We can proudly say that Caregolf has raised over £300,000 in this effort.
